Brooke George, a 23-year-old British TikTok influencer, is accused of stabbing Bill Treeby, 26, to death in Dubai. She is being held on remand and could face execution by firing squad if convicted. Treeby, it has emerged, had a secret wife back in the UK.
Secret Wife Revealed
Treeby's wife, Ellie, expressed her grief on Facebook, writing: "Words can't describe how I'm feeling right now. A part of me died with you. The world is cruel." The couple had been together, with Ellie posting photos of their holiday in Dubai in April, describing herself as his wife online.
Background of the Accused
Brooke, a former John Lewis employee from Gravesend, Kent, met Treeby on Facebook and flew to Dubai to be with him. She described the trip as "the time of her life" and told friends she had met the "man of her dreams." However, during a second visit in June, his behaviour allegedly changed. Her mother, Tess, noted she was not her usual self.
Claims of Self-Defence
According to pressure group Detained in Dubai, Treeby became controlling and abusive, booking Brooke a one-way ticket. She contacted her family to arrange a flight home but needed to retrieve her passport from his apartment. Brooke alleges that Treeby assaulted her in the car and continued the attack at his apartment, where he was found stabbed to death. She claims she acted in self-defence after being "repeatedly attacked."
Treeby's Criminal History
Treeby, from Rainham, Kent, had a suspended prison sentence for wounding and common assault from Maidstone Crown Court in 2023. He was also due to stand trial for plotting to supply cocaine and cannabis worth £80,000, as part of an investigation by Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team.
Family Tragedy
Treeby's death comes 17 years after his father, Jack, was killed in a property dispute. Jack was run down by a Range Rover driven by his brother, Bill. Bill Treeby senior and his sons were convicted of murder in 2010, but Bill senior killed himself in prison before sentencing. Treeby's sister, Ester, posted: "He was not only my brother but my best friend... I am so lost."
Detention Conditions
After her arrest, Brooke was taken to Bur Dubai Police Station, where she claims she was forced to strip naked in front of male officers, a "deeply humiliating and distressing" ordeal. She remains on remand awaiting trial.
