Police have seized three cars following a car meet in Alderley Edge. Cheshire Police said illegal car meetings took place in and around the village on Sunday, August 30, leading to complaints about dangerous and anti-social driving.
Officers carried out enquiries afterwards and identified three cars that had, among other things, committed traffic offences.
Traffic Offences
"These offences included vehicles being driven without due care and attention and drivers being seen to use a phone whilst behind the wheel," the force said in a statement issued today (Thursday, September 10).
As a result, three cars — a blue BMW M4, a white Toyota Supra and a black BMW M140i — were tracked down and seized under section 59 of the Road Traffic Act.
Police Warning
Chief Inspector Zoe Bowden, from Cheshire Police's Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said: "We know that dangerous driving and large-scale illegal car meets are a real issue for residents in Alderley Edge and Wilmslow, which is why we regularly conduct proactive operations to provide some reassurance and act as a warning to those planning to come to Cheshire to engage in reckless activities.
"As part of efforts to further deter anti-social driving, officers also regularly review social media content posted by these show-boaters who think they can use the roads of Alderley Edge as their own personal racetracks.
"Like the owners of the three vehicles we seized following the car meeting on the Bank Holiday Weekend, anyone caught committing driving offences can look forward to a visit from officers and expect to see their beloved cars on the back of our flatbed lorries."
