Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man reportedly went overboard from a sailing boat in Dorset and has not been found. The incident is believed to have occurred in the area of Arne Bay between approximately 8pm and 9pm on Friday.
Dorset Police have confirmed that a 46-year-old man from Poole, a 31-year-old man of no fixed abode, and a 22-year-old from Essex have all been arrested in connection with the case. All three remain in police custody and are being questioned by murder squad detectives.
The force received a report at 6.56pm on Sunday, nearly two days after the man is thought to have entered the water. His whereabouts remain unknown, and detailed searches are being carried out in an effort to locate him.
As part of the investigation, forensic officers were searching a harbourside block of flats at Baiter Park in Poole on Monday evening. Police have urged the public to refrain from speculating while enquiries continue.
Arne Bay is a sheltered inlet on the edge of the Arne Peninsula within Poole Harbour, adjacent to the RSPB Arne Nature Reserve.
