TfL probes Tube worker over pro-Palestine sticker video
TfL investigates Tube worker over pro-Palestine stickers

Transport for London (TfL) has said it is investigating after footage shared online appeared to show a London Underground worker handing out pro-Palestine stickers.

The video, which by 10pm on Thursday had been viewed nearly 200,000 times on X, shows a man approaching a woman at a busy London station. After claiming he heard her say “Free Palestine”, the woman, wearing a TfL uniform, hands the man a sticker, which she says is affiliated with the RMT union and meant to be placed on windows.

Backlash and code of conduct concerns

The video has drawn criticism online, with TfL's code of conduct banning the handing out of political material. The caption on the video, posted by campaigner on antisemitism and extremism Heidi Bachram, reads: “This looks like a member of staff on the London Underground giving out pro-Pal stickers to the public. These spaces should not have divisive politics in them. I don’t want to be handed one of these by one of your employees. What is going on @TfL?”

Councillor Susan Hall, Leader of the Conservative group London Assembly in Harrow, wrote: “If this person works for @TfL could it be looked into please. If it is a member of staff on duty it is totally unacceptable. Please make sure I get an official answer TFL”.

TfL response and reaction

TfL responded to the video, writing: “We are aware of this video and are investigating the circumstances. TfL staff are bound by our code of conduct, which does not allow the wearing or handing out of political material.”

Many users on X were not happy with the response. One wrote: “What’s there to investigate? Fire them. Send a strong message or it will become a free for all”. The Standard has approached the RMT union for comment.
