A horrific shooting spree has rocked communities across Central Texas, leaving four people dead and three others fighting for their lives in what authorities are describing as a coordinated rampage across multiple locations.
The Trail of Violence
According to Austin Police Department officials, the bloodshed began in the early hours when a 911 call reported two individuals shot on Austral Loop in south-east Austin. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, marking the tragic start of a violent morning that would claim more lives.
The chaos then moved to a convenience store in the 5800 block of South Pleasant Valley Road, where officers discovered another victim with gunshot wounds. Despite emergency medical efforts, this third person succumbed to their injuries.
San Antonio Connection
As the investigation unfolded, authorities made a chilling discovery linking the violence to San Antonio. A fourth victim was found at a separate location in the neighbouring city, confirming the shooting spree spanned approximately 80 miles between the two urban centres.
"We believe all four homicides are related," stated Austin Police Interim Chief Robin Henderson during a press conference, emphasising the connected nature of these tragic events.
Survivors in Critical Condition
Three additional victims are currently hospitalised in critical condition, their lives hanging in the balance as medical teams work tirelessly to save them. The severity of their injuries underscores the brutal nature of the attacks that unfolded across multiple crime scenes.
Manhunt Underway
Law enforcement agencies from both Austin and San Antonio have joined forces in an intensive manhunt for the suspect responsible for this deadly rampage. While authorities have not released detailed suspect information to the public, they confirm active pursuit of leads and evidence collected from multiple crime scenes.
The Austin Police Department has urged anyone with information to come forward as they work to piece together the timeline and motive behind this devastating series of shootings that has left communities across Central Texas in mourning.
