The MPs highlighted that stretched resources have led to delays in emergency responses, particularly in incidents along the A66, a major road linking Teesside to the wider region. They argued that without increased funding, the ability of services to protect residents and road users would be compromised.
A spokesperson for the group said that the current allocation does not reflect the area's needs, especially given the industrial nature of Teesside and the associated risks. The MPs have therefore submitted a formal request to ministers, urging a review of funding formulas.
