Two teenagers have been arrested after a man was left fighting for his life following an assault in Dingle. Merseyside Police responded to reports that a group of up to six males attacked a man outside a takeaway on Park Road at approximately 10pm on Saturday, August 8.
Victim in Critical Condition
The victim, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Police later arrested a 16-year-old boy from Wavertree on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, and a 14-year-old boy from Dingle on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. An electric bike believed to have been used in the assault has been seized by police.
Investigation Continues
Officers have remained at the scene throughout the day to conduct CCTV and forensic work. Detective Inspector Gemma Ellerton said: "Although we have arrested two males in connection with the incident, we continue to make enquiries into what took place to ensure those involved are held to account."
Ellerton added: "We understand the concern that such an incident will cause, especially given the ages of those involved and the busy area in which this occurred. With this I urge people in the area who saw the incident, or suspect a young person you know of having been involved, to please come forward and check any devices which may hold images or footage leading up to the assault. Any information no matter how small, may help the investigation."
