Emergency services discovered the body of a 16-year-old girl at Danson Park in Bexleyheath, south east London, on Tuesday night.
Discovery and response
Police and paramedics were called to the park at around 10.30pm on 18 August after reports of an unresponsive person. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Investigation underway
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "At 22:36hrs on Tuesday, 18 August, police were called to reports of a person found unresponsive in Danson Park, Bexleyheath. Officers attended alongside paramedics and a 16-year-old girl was sadly declared dead at the scene."
"Her next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Her death is being treated as unexpected but at this stage, is not believed to be suspicious. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course."
