A teenage boy who died in a motorbike crash in Aberdeenshire has been named locally as Kayden Thompson. Emergency services were called to the B9031 Macduff to Fraserburgh road, west of the junction for Pennan, at 5.30pm on Monday, August 24.
Kayden, 17, died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved and nobody else was injured. The road was closed for around six hours to allow for an investigation and has since reopened.
Family tributes
His mother, Dawn, led online tributes by sharing a photograph of her son with the words "Forever 17". His sister, Danielle, shared the same photograph and said her brother had the "biggest heart", adding: "You had everyone's back when it mattered. I'll take care of our brothers & sisters down here."
Kayden's girlfriend, Courtney Darcy, wrote: "You will always be my K." Leon McGregor said: "Rest easy brother," and Demi Livingstone commented: "You will always be part of me. Until we meet again."
Police appeal
Police have asked drivers who were in the area and have dashcam footage to come forward. Sergeant Peter Henderson, of the North East Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young male who died in this incident.
"Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we would urge anyone who believes they may have witnessed anything of note to get in touch. We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the area."
