A 17-year-old motorcyclist has died following a crash on the B9031 Macduff to Fraserburgh road, west of the junction for Pennan, in Aberdeenshire. Emergency crews attended the scene on the evening of Monday, August 24, after police received a report of a collision involving a black Honda CB500 motorcycle.
Rider pronounced dead at scene
Upon arrival, the teenage rider was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured.
The road was locked down for around six hours to allow for an investigation to take place. It has since reopened as enquiries into the full circumstances continue.
Police appeal for witnesses
Sergeant Peter Henderson, of the North East Road Policing Unit, paid tribute to the teen and appealed for witnesses. He said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young male who died in this incident."
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we would urge anyone who believes they may have witnessed anything of note to get in touch. We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the area."
