A 16-year-old boy has been questioned on suspicion of common assault following an alleged incident on the platform at Monument Metro Station in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Arrest and Investigation
The teenager was arrested on suspicion of common assault after the incident, which took place at Newcastle's Monument Metro Station in May. Northumbria Police confirmed he has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Victim Details
The alleged victim, a Gateshead resident, was returning home from Tynemouth Market on the afternoon of May 2 when he was reportedly attacked. The man, who has cerebral palsy and walks with a limp, was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) by ambulance for treatment to cuts and bruises.

Police previously appealed for witnesses. A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “A number of enquiries are now underway to locate those involved and understand the full circumstances.”
Erika Allen, Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment (QHSSE) Director at Nexus, added: “When the incident occurred our customer service team at Monument Metro Station were alerted and provided support to the victim. We want the Metro system to be safe and welcoming for everyone. If anyone has any information about this incident they should get in contact with Northumbria Police.”
