Woman Found Deceased in Swindon Property

A woman in her 50s has been found dead inside a home in Swindon, prompting a major police investigation. Wiltshire Police were called to a residential address on Baydon Close in the Moredon area at approximately 7pm on Friday, November 21.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman, who is believed to have lived at the property, not breathing. Despite the best efforts of emergency services to revive her, she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Investigation and Arrest

A scene guard and police cordon were immediately established around the property as detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team began their enquiries to determine the full circumstances leading to the woman's death.

In a significant development, a teenage girl has been arrested in connection with the incident. She was taken into police custody for questioning. Authorities have confirmed they are not looking for any other suspects in relation to this case.

Appeal to the Local Community

Detective Inspector Darren Ambrose addressed the seriousness of the event, stating: “This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died.” He confirmed that the police cordon was likely to remain in place overnight and throughout the following day.

DI Ambrose also issued a direct appeal to the public, urging people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding the incident. He added, “We appreciate the concern that this may cause the local community. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to an officer.”

The woman's next of kin have been informed. The investigation continues.
