Two teenagers were stabbed in a horrific daylight attack in St Helens on Wednesday afternoon, leaving pools of blood on the footpath. The incident occurred in the Lower Hall Street area at around 4.30pm.
An 18-year-old man sustained a stab wound to the side of his head, while a 16-year-old male suffered a stab wound under his arm. Both were taken to hospital, where their conditions are described as stable.
Police arrested two 16-year-old males from Huyton and Widnes on suspicion of assault. They have been taken to a police station in Merseyside for questioning.
Forensic teams and police dogs were seen searching the scene, which was cordoned off outside a funeral home. A local resident described the attack as "brazen" and said residents are "totally fed up" with such violence.
