Man Killed in Sydney Daylight Shooting; Two Arrested

A man has died and two individuals are in custody following a daylight shooting in Blacktown, Sydney. Police were called to Carinya Street at approximately 11:50 am on Friday after reports of a public place shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in his early 20s with gunshot wounds to his neck, chest, and leg. Despite attempts by ambulance paramedics and police to administer first aid, the man died at the scene.

Police attempted to stop a Mazda utility vehicle seen leaving the area, occupied by one person in their teens and another in their early 20s. A short pursuit ensued, ending when the vehicle crashed on Kildare Road. The two occupants fled on foot but were apprehended shortly after and taken to Blacktown police station. No charges have been laid at this time.

Superintendent Brendan Gorman, Blacktown Police Area Commander, stated that the homicide squad is assisting local detectives with the investigation. He noted that there is no ongoing threat to the public, but advised people to avoid the Blacktown CBD. Police are actively patrolling the area and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
