Several schools in Sydney were placed into lockdown on Monday morning following reports of a person seen walking with firearms. The incident sparked a major police operation in Beaumont Hills, with officers swarming the area to locate the individual.
Police received calls from concerned members of the public at around 10.24am local time on 24 November 2025. Officers quickly cordoned off parts of Guardian Avenue and began a large-scale search, advising locals to avoid the vicinity while inquiries were carried out.
After speaking with the person in question, police established that the firearms were in fact toys that had been picked up from a local cleanup. The lockdowns at nearby schools were lifted shortly after midday, and the operation was concluded.
A spokesperson for New South Wales Police said: 'Police treat all reports seriously and thank the community for their assistance.' The force emphasised that there was no threat to the public at any time.
