Nine people have been taken to hospital after a three-car crash in Sydney's southwest. Among those hurt are three children and two teenagers. The head-on collision occurred at Cabramatta late on Sunday, September 13.
Injuries and hospitalisations
An eight-year-old suffered facial injuries, while two other children sustained lacerations from their seatbelts. A 50-year-old man sustained critical head injuries.
Investigators are looking into whether anyone is criminally responsible for the incident, which unfolded around 11.15pm on a busy motorway.
Collision details
Police said in a statement that a BYD pick-up truck was travelling eastwards when it collided head-on with a Lexus SUV. The Lexus then hit a Mazda sedan, and all three vehicles came to a stop.
The man in his 50s was driving the Lexus and became trapped in the vehicle. He was cut out by firefighters and taken to Westmead Hospital with head injuries, a police spokesperson said.
Those taken to hospital
The male BYD driver was treated at the scene and also taken to hospital. A male driver of the sedan and his three occupants – a woman and two teenage girls – were taken to hospitals as a precaution.
