A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of 21-year-old Finbar Sullivan in Primrose Hill, north-west London. The Metropolitan police also arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both remain in police custody.
Finbar Sullivan was stabbed in the park in the early evening on Tuesday and pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, believed to be in his 20s, was found nearby on Regent's Park Road with stab wounds and taken to hospital; his injuries were non life-threatening.
Finbar's father, Christopher Sullivan, a musician and founder of the band Blue Rondo à la Turk, said his son had gone to the park to use a new camera he had received for his 21st birthday. He described the tragedy as the worst he could imagine, adding: 'He's my only son … He can never be replaced.'
Detective Inspector Andy Griffin said: 'My thoughts remain with Finbar’s family who continue to receive support from specialist officers at this unimaginably difficult time.' Police thanked members of the public who came forward and encouraged others to provide information, noting that an increased police presence would remain in the area.
