A Spirit Airlines pilot has been removed from duty after being arrested at New Orleans' Louis Armstrong International Airport on stalking charges from Kansas. Dominic A Cipolla, 40, faces charges related to two alleged victims, aged approximately 12 and 17, according to court documents.
Cipolla was arrested on 17 July while working at the airport in Kenner, Louisiana, and was held as a fugitive before being transferred to Johnson County jail on 2 August. He posted a $12,500 bond and is scheduled for an initial court appearance on 12 August.
Spirit Airlines confirmed the incident, stating the pilot was removed from duty pending investigation, and another pilot was arranged for the flight. The charges include a severity level 7 person felony for the younger victim, carrying a potential sentence of one to three years in prison, and a class A person misdemeanor for the other.
Cipolla's attorney, Brandan Davies, said in a statement that Cipolla is a two-time combat veteran with no prior record and denies the allegations, asking the media to allow the court process to proceed.
