Six bodies were discovered on Sunday inside a train boxcar in Laredo, Texas, according to local police. The grim find occurred in a remote train yard near the U.S.-Mexico border.

A Union Pacific worker found the deceased individuals in the boxcar. Police and firefighters later confirmed the deaths, said Laredo Police Investigator Joe Baeza. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing, Baeza added. No survivors were found at the scene.
Unanswered Questions
Authorities have not disclosed the identities or nationalities of the victims. The incident echoes past tragedies involving migrants near the border, including a 2022 case where 53 people died in an abandoned tractor-trailer with a malfunctioning air conditioning system on the outskirts of San Antonio.
Laredo police are working with federal agencies to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
