Six Arrested on Opening Day of TRNSMT 2026
Police Scotland has confirmed that six people, including four teenagers, were arrested on the first day of the TRNSMT festival at Glasgow Green on Friday, June 19, 2026. The arrests were linked to a series of separate incidents, including assaults, drugs offences, and a breach of air navigation order.
Details of the Arrests
According to a Police Scotland spokesperson, two males aged 16 and 17 were arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences. Two 16-year-old males were arrested in connection with assaults. Additionally, a 42-year-old man was arrested for a breach of air navigation order, and a 38-year-old man was arrested following a road traffic offence.
Festival Atmosphere Marred by Incidents
The eighth edition of TRNSMT officially kicked off with performances by artists including Nile Rodgers, Becky Hill, and headliner Richard Ashcroft. While a party atmosphere prevailed for much of the day, the mood was soured by a mass brawl involving 40 to 50 people. Some festivalgoers also expressed disappointment after watching Scotland lose 1-0 to Morocco in Boston on big screens after Ashcroft's set.
Police confirmed that enquiries are ongoing and reports will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. The six men arrested ranged in age from 16 to 42.
