Six men have been arrested following a shooting inside an Airbnb rental in Manchester's Gay Village. The incident occurred on Richmond Street, adjacent to Canal Street, at around 5am on Saturday morning. A man in his 20s suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and was treated for his injuries.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that the shooting is not being treated as a hate crime. Of the six arrested, two have been recalled to prison in relation to affray offences from a previous incident, while three have been bailed pending further investigations. A 24-year-old man remains in custody, with his detention period extended to allow detectives more time to question him.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Woodburn, of GMP's city of Manchester division, said: "Since the incident happened on Saturday, we have been working hard to establish the timeline of events leading up to the shooting. Our investigation is still unfolding, and we are continuing to work through the facts available to us."
He thanked the local community for their support and patience, adding that officers are providing regular reassurance and actively patrolling the area. He urged anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anything earlier in the evening, or has CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
