A 70-year-old woman has been convicted of murdering her sister, a film director, in a dispute over a diamond-encrusted gold Rolex watch. Nancy Pexton fatally stabbed Jennifer Abbott, 69, ten times at her flat in Camden, north London, on 10 June last year. She then made off with the valuable timepiece.
Details of the Crime
Ms Abbott's body was discovered three days later after a concerned neighbour forced entry into her home. The victim had gaffer tape over her mouth. Police found Pexton's clothes covered in her sister's blood, which she falsely claimed was from a nosebleed. The court heard evidence of a long-standing resentment between the sisters, with Pexton having previously written notes about killing her "evil" sibling.
Legal Proceedings
Pexton was found guilty of murder at the Old Bailey. She is due to be sentenced on Friday. The prosecution argued that the motive was the theft of the Rolex, which had significant sentimental and monetary value. The case highlights the tragic consequences of familial discord escalating into violence.
