CCTV footage shows a shop worker at Crest Mini Market in Bestwood, Nottingham, fighting off a machete-wielding robber with a hockey stick. The masked thug stormed into the store and pulled a large blade from his clothing before the worker began battering him with the stick.
The robber eventually fled with a bottle of vodka following the incident, which took place at 9.10am on July 4. The shop worker escaped without physical injury but was left badly shaken.
Police hunt for suspect with distinctive tattoo
Police are now hunting for the hooded attacker and hope a distinctive tattoo on his left arm could help identify him. Crimestoppers has offered a reward of up to £5,000 for information given exclusively to the charity that leads to his arrest and conviction.
Detective Constable Thomas Lowe, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This was an unpleasant ordeal for the victim and we are determined to find the person responsible."

She added: "Somebody out there knows who did this. It might be something you saw that morning, something you've heard since, or a nagging feeling about someone you know. That tattoo may well be the detail that jogs the memory. Whatever it is, you don't have to carry it on your own."
