Seven Men Charged with Rape and Child Abuse in Norwich

Seven men have been accused of being part of a grooming gang and charged with rape and child sex abuse offences, police said. The men, who are Afghan nationals and refugees, were charged as part of an investigation into group-based child sexual exploitation in Norwich, Norfolk Police reported.

Details of the Charges

The men are accused of sexual offences committed between August 2023 and May 2025. They are due to appear before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Friday. Superintendent Craig Miller stated: "I know this news will be shocking to our communities. This type of case is very upsetting, and I want people living and working in Norwich, as well as the wider communities of Norfolk, to know that we will do everything possible to protect children from abuse and exploitation."

List of Defendants and Charges

  • Ahmadin Ahmadzai, 20, of Pottergate, Norwich: charged with nine counts of rape, two counts of conspiracy to rape, one count of facilitate human trafficking, and one count of perverting the course of justice. He entered the country concealed on a lorry on 24 June 2020.
  • Jamil Khalili, 20, of High Street, Dumbarton, Scotland: charged with seven counts of rape, one count of conspiracy to rape, and one count of facilitate human trafficking. He entered the country via small boat on 23 March 2021.
  • Fazal Auryakhel, 20, of Eleanor Road, Norwich: charged with one count of rape. He entered the country via small boat on 26 February 2022.
  • Qais Kaker, 20, of Black Horse Opening, Norwich: charged with four counts of rape, one count of conspiracy to rape, and one count of facilitate human trafficking. He entered the country via small boat on 4 September 2022.
  • Mohammed Farooq Shinwary, 20, of St Benedicts St, Norwich: charged with two counts of rape. He entered the country via small boat on 28 May 2021.
  • Ali Ahamad, 21, of Pelham Rd, Norwich: charged with one count of rape and three counts of facilitate human trafficking. He attempted to enter the UK clandestinely via Portsmouth ferry port on 4 May 2021.
  • Sayed Wahid Davodzai, 20, of St Benedicts St, Norwich: charged with four counts of rape and one count of conspiracy to rape. He entered the country via small boat on 9 October 2022.
