Devon and Cornwall Police have declared a 'serious incident' in Plymouth this evening, as a police helicopter continues to circle over the city. Residents have reported a significant police presence, with cordons in place and emergency services spotted at multiple locations.
Police Helicopter Circling Over Plymouth
According to local reports, the helicopter has been flying low over the St Judes area and between North Cross and Beaumont Park since around 9pm on Monday, May 4. Police cordons have been established near Treeby Court, and a large number of officers are visible in the area.
Emergency Services at Business Park
Emergency services have also been observed at a business park near Cattedown. One resident told PlymouthLive that there are 'loads of police and ambulance' off Gdynia Way. Another resident described a 'major incident on Embankment Road', with helicopters, armed response units, and ambulances involved. The helicopter is reportedly searching parks and streets in connection with the ongoing incident.
Devon and Cornwall Police have not yet released further details about the nature of the incident. The force is urging the public to avoid the area while investigations continue.
