Two teenage school pupils have been fatally shot near a bus stop in Seattle, with the gunman still on the run. Police responded to reports of a shooting on Rainier Avenue South and South Henderson Street shortly before 4pm on Friday, January 30.
Officers discovered the two teenage victims suffering from fatal gunshot wounds and administered emergency medical treatment until the Seattle Fire Department arrived. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Seattle Police Department said the suspect fled on foot before officers arrived and remains at large. Homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit are investigating. The King County Medical Examiner will identify the victims.
In an email to families, Seattle Public Schools confirmed the victims were “two teenagers believed to be Seattle Public Schools students”. Superintendent Fred Podesta said: “The loss is almost impossible to put into words… tragedies like this are becoming far too common.”
