A major search operation is underway for a man who went missing at Llyn Geirionydd, a 45-acre lake in Snowdonia, Wales. Police divers and a helicopter have been deployed as part of the effort, which began on Sunday evening.

The alarm was raised at approximately 7:10 pm on Sunday, July 19, 2026, when emergency services were called to the lake, located on the lower slopes of the Carneddau mountains. North Wales Police confirmed that despite searches conducted throughout the night, the man has not yet been found. His family has been notified and is being supported.
Search efforts are set to continue at the lake, with an "increased emergency service presence" amid the ongoing operation. Locals reported seeing a helicopter circling the lake at around 8 pm on Sunday. One witness described a "significant emergency response," while another noted police divers at the scene.
Recent Incident at Same Location
This search comes just 11 days after the body of a 21-year-old man was recovered from the same lake. Llyn Geirionydd is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, particularly kayakers, and is the only lake within Eryri National Park where speedboats are permitted, according to North Wales Live.
