A depraved killer who modelled his brutal crimes on the infamous Saw horror franchise has had his prison sentence increased following a judicial review.
The Court of Appeal ruled that the original term handed down to the twisted murderer – who subjected his victim to unimaginable torture – failed to reflect the severity of his offences.
Horror Film Fantasies Turned Reality
Prosecutors revealed how the defendant meticulously planned his attack, taking direct inspiration from the torture-porn film series. His methods included using makeshift surgical tools and creating an elaborate 'game' scenario for his helpless victim.
"This was among the most calculated and sadistic crimes we've encountered," stated the lead investigator. "The offender didn't just kill – he revelled in the suffering."
Justice Served
Following a campaign by the victim's family and pressure from legal experts, the Attorney General referred the case to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.
"While no sentence can undo the trauma," the victim's sister told reporters, "knowing this monster will spend longer behind bars gives us some small measure of peace."
The extended sentence means the killer will now serve a minimum of [X] years before being considered for parole.
