Salford police incident: 100m cordon as roads blocked

A major police operation has been launched in Salford, with several roads blocked off and specialist vehicles deployed on Sunday afternoon, September 20.

Roads cordoned off in Salford

Lancaster Road has been cordoned off near Eccles Old Road and Cholmondeley Road, with a 100m perimeter in place. Voltaire Avenue has also been blocked, with Tactical Aid Unit vans visible in the area.

Customers at the nearby Royal Sovereign Pub cannot use the car park, with the pub telling the Manchester Evening News that police had not informed them of the nature of the incident.

Separate emergency response reported

Witnesses reported a separate emergency response on East Lancs Road following a crash, which is understood to be unrelated to the Lancaster Road cordon.
