RAF Lakenheath Lockdown After Unauthorised Entry Attempt

RAF Lakenheath, a United States Air Force base in Suffolk, was placed under lockdown early this morning after an individual attempted to enter without proper identification.

Incident at Gate 2

Security forces at the airbase responded swiftly shortly before 8am today when a person allegedly tried to gain access through Gate 2 without the required credentials. A spokesperson for the base, which hosts the 48th Fighter Wing, confirmed that the gate barriers were deployed and security personnel acted quickly to prevent the vehicle from entering the installation.

Suspect Detained

The individual was taken into custody by Ministry of Defence police, the spokesperson added. The incident prompted a lockdown of the base as a precautionary measure.
