At least seven people have been injured in a bomb attack on a train in the Pakistani city of Quetta, officials have confirmed.
The explosion occurred on Sunday morning along a railway track in the capital of southwestern Balochistan province. The train was heading to the city's cantonment area when it was targeted, according to 24 News.
A spokesman for the Civil Hospital Quetta said the seven injured passengers were taken to a health facility, where an emergency has been declared. There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the attack.
Police reported that the train derailed after an explosion near Chaman Phatak. Ambulances and security forces were dispatched immediately to the scene, and the area has been cordoned off as rescue operations continue.
The explosion also damaged nearby buildings, with windows and glass panes shattered by the impact. Balochistan’s Special Assistant for Home Affairs said officials are gathering information and further details will be released as they become available.
