Primark has issued an urgent recall for a colour block purse after discovering excessive levels of phthalates, a chemical that can damage the reproductive system. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) confirmed the product poses a serious chemical risk.
Details of the Recall
The affected item is a coin purse in shades of brown, with model number 3103002 and barcode 991169270. Tests revealed high concentrations of Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), and Short Chain Chlorinated Paraffins (SCCPs). The OPSS stated: "The product presents a serious chemical risk as it contains excessive concentrations of... Phthalates are harmful to health and may cause damage to the reproductive system. The product does not meet the requirements of the REACH Regulations 2008."
Primark's Response
Primark has urged customers to stop using the purse immediately and keep it away from children. The retailer said: "We recommend that consumers stop using the product immediately and keep it out of reach of children. Return the product to any Primark store for a full refund. Morrisons recalled its Maple and Bacon Back of the Net sharing snack (140g, best before August 22, 2026) due to undeclared milk, posing a risk to those with allergies. Morrisons advised: "Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don't need a receipt."
