Met Police Urges Victims After Married At First Sight Sex Assault Claims
Police Urge Victims After Married At First Sight Allegations

The Metropolitan Police has issued a statement urging potential victims of sexual assault on the reality TV show Married At First Sight UK to come forward. This follows allegations made by two women who claimed they were raped, and another who made claims of sexual misconduct.

Allegations Detailed in BBC Panorama Investigation

In a recent BBC Panorama investigation, one woman alleged that her onscreen husband raped her and threatened her. A second woman stated that she informed both Channel 4 and production company CPL about being allegedly raped by her onscreen husband, yet her episodes were still broadcast.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "We are aware of media reporting relating to allegations of rape and sexual assault following the airing of a television programme on Monday, 18 May."

Police Statement on Current Status

The spokesperson added: "At this time, we have not received any criminal reports in relation to this matter. We will be making approaches to the relevant production teams to ensure that anyone they have spoken to is aware of how to report any criminal allegations to police."

The Met Police emphasised their commitment to supporting victims, stating: "We continue to encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim of sexual assault, no matter how long ago it happened, to get in touch with us."

These developments come as Married At First Sight UK faces renewed scrutiny over its duty of care towards participants. Channel 4 and CPL have not yet responded to the allegations.
