Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that a cordon and emergency response in Piccadilly Gardens was sparked by a male suffering an injury with 'no third-party involvement'.
Emergency services arrived at the Manchester city centre spot at around 9pm on Tuesday evening (August 25). Photos from the scene showed a cordon in place around a row of shops and fast-food restaurants on Piccadilly.
Shops within the cordon
McDonald's, Wingstop, Boots and Five Guys were within the cordon. Multiple police officers and security staff could be seen behind the cordon.
Police update on the incident
In an update issued this morning (Wednesday) a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said no crime was reported. The incident involved a male who had a 'pre-existing' injury.
He then became injured again, the spokesperson added. There was no third-party involvement.
