An 11-year-old girl who was reported missing on Sunday night has been found dead in a park in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire. West Mercia Police have launched an investigation into the discovery and are treating the death as unexplained at this stage.
Discovery near cricket ground
The girl's body was found in the park near the cricket ground in Elmley Castle. Her disappearance was reported at around 11.20pm on Sunday 4 October, and she was later found deceased in the same area.
Family supported by officers
Police have confirmed that the girl's family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Residents in Elmley Castle have been warned to expect an increased police presence while officers carry out enquiries in the area.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "An investigation has been launched after the body of an 11-year-old girl was found in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire. The girl was reported missing at around 11.20pm yesterday evening (Sunday 4 October) and was later found deceased in the park near the cricket ground. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding her death, which at this stage is being treated as unexplained. People living in Elmley Castle will see an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out their enquiries."
