North Wales Police have renewed an appeal for the driver of a black vehicle, possibly a Ford Fiesta, to come forward after a motorcyclist died in a crash on Llandudno's Great Orme.
The incident happened on Thursday evening on Marine Drive, when a man riding a black motorcycle came off the road and fell into the sea below, prompting a large-scale rescue operation. The motorcyclist was pulled from the water but later died.
Police Appeal for Vehicle Driver
In a fresh appeal issued on Friday afternoon, a spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "Further to our earlier appeal, we are trying to locate a black vehicle – possibly a Ford Fiesta, that we believe to be in the area of the Great Orme at the time of the collision."
The spokesperson added: "The vehicle travelled on Mostyn Street into North Parade then headed up towards the Great Orme at around 22:26hrs and we are urging the driver of that vehicle to come forward as soon as possible."
Details of the Collision
Police previously stated: "An investigation is underway following a fatal road traffic collision in Llandudno last night (Thursday, 29th October)." They received a report at 10:31pm of a collision involving a black motorcycle on Marine Drive, approximately one mile from the Toll House towards the direction of the Great Orme summit.
As a result of the collision, the male motorcyclist entered the sea below the Great Orme. A multi-agency response involving North Wales Police, HM Coastguard and the RNLI was launched. The casualty was recovered from the water and airlifted by Coastguard helicopter to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.
"Tragically, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced deceased. His next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been notified," the statement added.
Witness Appeal
Sergeant Alun Jones is appealing for witnesses. He said: "Sadly, this is now being investigated as a fatal road traffic collision, and our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this very difficult time."
"We are urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who was travelling or walking along Marine Drive on the evening of Thursday 29 October, to contact us," he added. "We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was travelling from the Toll House towards the Great Orme summit between 10:00pm and 10:30pm and who may have dashcam footage."
