A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a 47-year-old woman was discovered in a thatched cottage in the quiet Oxfordshire village of Ludgershall. Samantha Blake-Mirzen, an Oxford graduate and business management developer, was found dead at a property on The Green on Sunday afternoon.
Thames Valley Police said the cause of death was a subdural haematoma, a symptom of serious head injury, indicating she was bludgeoned. A man has been arrested more than 50 miles away in Thame, Oxfordshire, in connection with the incident.
Officers were called by the ambulance service at around 12:25pm on Sunday. Upon arrival, they confirmed Ms Blake-Mirzen had died. Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Ailsa Kent expressed understanding of community concerns but stressed that a full investigation is under way and an arrest has been made.
“We continue to support the family of the victim at this very difficult time,” DCI Kent said. She also noted that residents may see an increased police presence in the area while inquiries continue. Police are appealing for anyone with information, however small, to contact them on 101.
