Police Probe Possible Link Between Brixton Shooting And Stabbing

Police are investigating whether a stabbing and a drive-by shooting in south London are connected, after five people were injured, two critically.

The Metropolitan Police were called to Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, at 1.14 am on Saturday following reports of shots fired from a vehicle. Four people suffered gunshot wounds. A 25-year-old man remains in a life-threatening condition, while three others – aged 21, 47, and 70 – were hospitalised with injuries not deemed life-threatening.

Just over an hour later, at 2.17 am, officers responded to a stabbing in nearby Acre Lane, about 700 metres away. A 33-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds and taken to hospital, where his condition is also life-threatening.

No arrests have been made in connection with either incident. Officers are examining the possibility that the two events are linked, the Met said.

Anyone with information or footage is urged to contact police or Crimestoppers, quoting reference CAD 557/2May for the shooting and CAD 907/2May for the stabbing.

Police were seen searching an area of grass outside the Southwyck House estate on Coldharbour Lane on Saturday evening. An estate resident said he believed the shooting occurred during a barbecue party on the green, while a shop worker described providing shelter to people after the gunshots.
