Police in St Vincent and the Grenadines have confirmed that their investigation into the death of Daniel Vettrino, a Scottish man shot on the island of Canouan, is ongoing following a post-mortem examination. The examination determined that Mr Vettrino died from “exsanguination (bleeding) as a result of multiple gunshot wounds,” according to the Royal St Vincent and Grenadines police force.
Details of the Incident
Daniel Vettrino, from Dysart in Fife, was fatally shot on the night of Wednesday June 24 on the island of Canouan. He is understood to have been working as a technical service manager at Canouan Estate Resort and Villas. The police force has appealed for anyone with information to contact its major crimes unit, extending “sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.”
Family Tribute
Mr Vettrino’s brother, Robson Vettrino Kolberg, paid tribute on Facebook, describing him as “a pure soul who only wanted success and happiness for all of those around him.” He added: “He has touched the lives of so many people, from his hometown in Fife to all corners of this world. A unique individual, made up of so many qualities and quirks, especially his impeccable ability to drink anyone under the table. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, the family are heartbroken by this loss and grateful for the love and support we have already received. We are all currently working hard for his safe return home and upon completion we will make arrangements for a chance for everyone to say their final goodbyes.”
