Three police officers were injured during a 'violent struggle' outside Talbot Green police station in Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales. A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault, arson, and criminal damage following the incident, which occurred at around 7pm on Friday.
The officers confronted the man after police vehicles were damaged at the station. Two of the officers were taken to hospital for treatment but have since been discharged. None sustained major injuries, police confirmed.
Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones appealed for calm, stating: 'I appreciate that this will have caused understandable shock and concern in the local community. However, I would like to make it clear that there is nothing to suggest that there is any wider threat to the public.'
Police have said the motive for the incident remains unclear, but there is no wider threat. Alex Davies-Jones, the Welsh Labour MP for Pontypridd, urged the public to avoid speculation or misinformation while investigations continue.
