Greater Manchester Police have sealed off Tandle Hill Country Park in Oldham following the alleged assault of a teenage girl.
Officers, including the force's Tactical Aid Unit, have established two police scenes within the park, one surrounding the war memorial and another near the cafe at the entrance.
The assault is believed to have taken place on Friday 20 March, with police receiving a report the following day, Saturday 21 March. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said specialist officers are carrying out a detailed search of the area and the scenes are expected to remain in place while that work continues.
Officers will remain visible locally to provide reassurance and support the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Greater Manchester Police on 101, quoting log 2161 of 21 March.
