More than 80,000 people are heading to Cheshire this week for Creamfields 2026, which runs from Thursday, August 27 to Sunday, August 30. Cheshire Police has issued advice ahead of the four-day event, which will feature some of the biggest names in dance music.
Police presence and under-18 checks
During the festival, Cheshire Police officers will support the event and security staff, providing a visible presence to prevent incidents of crime and disorder. Cheshire Constabulary will also support Creamfields with plans to deter trespassing, and is asking parents and responsible adults to ensure children under the age of 18 do not travel to the site.
Spot checks will take place around the festival site, and anyone who is under 18 or without a ticket will be removed.
Facial recognition and security measures
Retrospective facial recognition technology is being used at the festival this year. This works by comparing CCTV footage from the event to national police databases. Any suspects who are matched will be passed on to an investigating officer for further enquiries.
Superintendent Andy Blizzard, who is overseeing the policing operation, said: “As always, a great deal of time and effort has gone into planning for this event to ensure that we are as prepared as possible for what is the biggest event that we help to police in Cheshire.”
“Our main aim is to ensure the safety of festival goers and to support the local community, and I know that most people who will attend will enjoy the event responsibly.”
Drugs and weapons warnings
The event organisers have a range of security measures in place, such as searches before entry and drug dogs in attendance. Amnesty bins are also in place at entrance points for prohibited items, and anyone who does not use these bins but is found in possession of drugs or weapons will be dealt with.
“If you are caught trying to smuggle any drugs into the festival, you will be prosecuted - and the impact of that is long lasting,” Blizzard added. “Our disruption work is not just focused on the event itself, but continues both before and after the festival, so there really is nowhere to hide.”
