Death investigation launched

Just before 11am on Monday, July 27, police received a report of concern for a person at an address in the Walker area of Newcastle. Emergency services attended and found a man aged in his 60s. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Just before 11am today (July 27), we received a report of concern for a person at an address in the Walker area of Newcastle. Emergency services attended and located a man aged in his 60s. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The man's next of kin are aware and are currently being supported by officers. A police cordon is in place, and enquiries remain ongoing into the circumstances surrounding his death, which police are currently treating as unexplained.”

Police presence in Walker

There was a police presence in the Monkchester Road area with numerous vehicles at the scene. The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.
