Dramatic footage has emerged showing a man triggering a major police response after he was seen taking an incredibly dangerous stroll along the M6 motorway.
The shocking incident, which occurred near Birmingham, brought traffic to a standstill as motorists watched in disbelief. The pedestrian appeared calm and composed as he walked along the hard shoulder of the busy carriageway, completely oblivious to the immense danger.
Alarmed drivers immediately alerted authorities, prompting a swift intervention from West Midlands Police. Officers were scrambled to the scene to safely detain the individual and remove him from the motorway.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed the incident, stating: "We were called to reports of a man walking on the M6 between junctions 5 and 4. Officers attended and the man was safely located and escorted from the motorway."
This reckless act highlights serious concerns for both pedestrian and motorist safety. Walking on a motorway is not only illegal but poses an extreme risk of causing catastrophic accidents.
Police have reiterated that motorways are strictly for motorised vehicles only and have urged anyone experiencing personal difficulties to seek help through appropriate support channels rather than putting lives at risk.
