Police evacuated Churston Library in Paignton on Friday following threats that a device had been placed at the premises. The A3979 Dartmouth Road has been closed in both directions between Broadsands Road and the Paignton border, causing traffic congestion.

Evacuation and cordon

Devon and Cornwall Police were called at around 11.50am to the library. As a precaution, the premises were evacuated and a cordon remains in place while officers carry out enquiries and assess the information received.
