A large area in the centre of Rochdale has been cordoned off tonight amid a reported serious incident.
Police have taped off the area between The Butts Avenue and South Parade tonight (Thursday, July 23).
Pictures from the scene circulating on social media show a number of police vehicles at the scene and officers standing guard at the cordon.

The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed. There are, as yet unconfirmed, reports from locals and on social media that there has been a stabbing.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been contacted for comment tonight but have not yet responded to requests for a statement.
