Police have appealed for help to find a 14-year-old girl missing from the Leam Lane Estate in Gateshead for almost a week.
The teenager, named only as Lexi, was reported missing on Monday, September 21. Officers believe she travelled to the Durham area but has since returned to Tyneside, specifically the Elswick area of Newcastle, around 8pm on Friday evening.
Contact with family
Since she was reported missing, Lexi has made contact with family members by phone on a handful of occasions, according to police. She has not yet returned home.
Lexi is described as white, around 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build, with long dark brown hair. She has links across Gateshead and is known to regularly frequent Newcastle city centre and the Wallsend area of North Tyneside.
Police appeal
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Lexi, 14, was reported missing from the Leam Lane Estate area of Gateshead on Monday (September 21). Initial enquiries showed that she had travelled to the Durham area however it is now believed she has then returned to the Elswick area of Newcastle around 8pm last night (Friday)."
The spokesperson added: "She has made contact over the phone with family members on a handful of occasions since she was first reported missing. However, Lexi has still not returned home – and officers and her family are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare."
