Police are appealing for information following a serious crash on the A72 in Biggar. Around 3.30pm on Tuesday, August 11, a 36-year-old male cyclist was travelling along the A72 from Skirling towards the A702 at Biggar when he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene prior to police arrival.
Cyclist taken to hospital
The man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to what are described as life-threatening injuries. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and trace the vehicle involved.
Witness appeal
Detective Constable Josh Ellwood said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us. I would also appeal to anyone who has seen a Mercedes Sprinter type van in the area around the time to contact us. I would also request anyone with dash cam or private CCTV footage that could assist to get in touch.”
