A person has died on the train tracks near Salford Crescent station, prompting a large emergency response on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services called to Salford Crescent
British Transport Police (BTP) received reports of a casualty on the tracks just before 4.15pm on July 18. Police, paramedics and fire crews attended the scene, with vehicles lining Middlewood Street and Oldfield Road.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the person was pronounced dead at the scene. A BTP spokesperson said: 'Officers were called the line near Salford Crescent railway station at 4.12pm on Saturday (18 July) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.'
Death not treated as suspicious
The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner. The line at Salford Crescent was blocked, causing train cancellations and delays. Northern had previously posted on X about the disruption.
