A person has died after a stabbing in broad daylight at a council headquarters in north London, according to reports. Officers cordoned off the Brent Civic Centre, near Wembley Stadium, following the incident.

Metropolitan Police and ambulance crews rushed to the building, home to Brent Council, at around 2.25pm. Staff in the building were reportedly evacuated, according to the Sun.

Council alert and emergency response

An alert on the Brent Council website says: “The Brent Civic Centre and Wembley Library are currently closed due to an ongoing incident. Please avoid visiting the building at this time. We’ll share updates as soon as we can.” London’s Air Ambulance was dispatched to the scene as part of the emergency response.

An LAS spokesperson said: “We were called at 2:25pm to reports of a stabbing at Brent Civic Centre, Wembley, HA9. We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a patient was pronounced dead at the scene.”
